Principal's Message

Dear Carol G. Peck Parents and Community Members:

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!  We are very excited to begin another amazing year here at Carol G. Peck School.  We look forward to partnering with you to educate your child.  We are here to enrich your child's life through a high quality education.  We are always here when you need us, please don't hesitate to give us a call or come in and speak with us.

This month we will have "Meet the Teacher" on August 5, from 1-3 pm and Curriculum Night on August 18 from 5:30-6:30 pm.  We always look forward to meeting with you and sharing goals.

Our teachers, parents and community members recognize that reading is the key to learning in all school subjects and as a result we have put the improvement of reading as a top priority. Parents, as your child’s first and most important teacher, you can help your child become an enthusiastic, life-long reader. Here are a few suggestions on making your home ‘reading friendly.’

Have lots of books, magazines and newspapers around for children to read. Limit television viewing to 10 or fewer hours per week. Make 20 minutes (Read and Respond) of reading time a regular part of your child’s daily routine. If your child has a favorite interest, find books on related topics.  Research proves the more children read outside of school, the better they do in school. Read to your children everyday, and once they begin to read on their own, encourage them to read often – just for the fun of it!

Student attendance is a high priority for our school.  We know that if students are going to learn at their highest potential, they need to be here every day.  Please join with us in ensuring that students are here every day, on time.  School starts promptly at 7:55 am.

We are about kids and helping them reach their highest potential, and we cannot do that without your help.  Please consider taking an active role in your child's education.

Sincerely,

Melinda Schlosser
